The State Duma approved a one-time increase in the mineral extraction tax for Gazprom by 1.248 trillion rubles

The State Duma adopted in the third reading an amendment to Article 343 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation on a one-time increase in the mineral extraction tax (MET) for Gazprom; by 416 billion rubles per month or by 1.248 trillion rubles in total for the tax period from September 1 to November 30, 2022. The document is published on the website of the Parliament.

One-time increase in the severance tax on gas production for Gazprom during September – November 2022 assumes an increase in payments by 416 billion rubles in each of these months. The company's total expenses due to the increase in the mineral extraction tax in the fall are estimated at 1.248 trillion rubles.

The day before, the deputy head of the Gazprom department Kirill Polous said that he considers it expedient to consider the issue of introducing a mechanism for coordinating the export of pipeline gas and LNG from the Russian Federation. According to him, against the backdrop of sanctions, the corresponding mechanism is acquiring strategic importance for Russia.

Formerly Executive Secretary of the Committee for Energy strategy and development of the fuel and energy complex of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation Dmitry Polokhin said that gas prices in Europe could increase to 3.5 thousand dollars per thousand cubic meters.
